Holmes County, FL

A Lifetime of Service and Experience

Candidate John Tate

Thank you for visiting my website.  I hope you will find this site informative and it will aid you in learning more about me and my plans, if elected, as your next Holmes County Sheriff.  If you have any questions, you are always welcome to contact me in person, by phone, email, social media, or I will be glad to stop by your home.  I believe it is my duty to always be readily available to you.

I would like to introduce myself.  I am John Tate, a lifelong resident of Holmes County.  I grew up in the Pine Log community with my parents David and Bea Tate.  I began my law enforcement career, at an early age, watching my father serve as a part-time Deputy with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.  I also had the privilege of serving, alongside my father, in many activities serving the Citizens of Holmes County.  I’m a graduate of Ponce de Leon High School.  I joined HCSO in 1995 as an Auxiliary Deputy.  After high school I attended Chipola College for two years to further my education.  I then completed the law enforcement academy and became Florida law enforcement certified.  During my 20 years of service at HCSO, I have held several positions, including supervisory positions and I am currently the Captain of the Patrol Division.

Since safety and protection of children and elderly have always held the highest priority in my heart, if elected, I will be actively involved in programs such as Neighborhood Watch and Crime Stoppers.  Also, I will put a School Resource Deputy (SRD) in every school in Holmes County.  The SRD will be actively involved, be a positive influence to students by establishing student rapport, while encouraging healthy growth and development.  I plan to revamp the Sheriff’s Explorer program for young adults.  The Explorer program is designed to build positive character traits, develop personal and mental fitness, and promote active citizenship.  Young adults are exposed to the law enforcement field and to projects featuring safety, training, and service.

I will run an efficient and effective office by striving to excel in all aspects, by continuous training and education. I will use every available resource to rehabilitate victims of substance addictions, by utilizing substance abuse treatment centers, as well as, our local faith based programs.  I will foster community relationships and be a good steward of tax-payer money.  I will always continue to provide ethical, fair, and professional services to you.  It is and always will be an honor to serve you, the Citizens of Holmes County.

Forever Most Humble,

John Tate
